An interesting concept,
but poorly executed and with a conclusion that was lazy and unimaginative.

Radius starts in high note and a interesting and original idea ( a radius of death around a person.)

But pretty soon into the film, we see that the script writer and director had no idea whatsoever of what to do it.

The two main characters start a rambling quest to try and identify the cause of this "condition" and this is interspersed with a few confrontations with cops and rednecks and then we arrive at a pretty anticlimactic ending.... Nothing is explained nor hinted at.

All things considered this was a kind of "meh" film.

Big waste of time.
An efficient sci-fi.
There's a couple of things i'd like to say about this movie, first of all i consider this to be a good movie because of all of the elements at play working together. Separated all these elements aren't much, for example the acting isn't all that good but in the context of the movie it doesn't stand out. Another thing that kept bugging me was the fact that the initial plot of the movie is exactly the same as a short that appeared in an anime movie called "Memories" by Katsuhiro Otomo, the short is called "Stink Bomb" and its basically about a guy that kills everyone around him without him knowing about it at first,(back to the movie) except the plot quickly thickened by the appearance of his counterpart Jane. And yet again i felt the movie making sense as the plot kept having twists, a little exaggerated in the end but very efficient all in all. I will not say more as i don't want to spoil any of you.
A big waste of a great idea.
Such and interesting idea, completely killed by being sidelined... shame. I was wondering why did they even include that radius bit in the movie, since wasn't suited for this kind of movie at all. It was a generic thriller and the radius thing felt like a completely pointless gimmick. Imagine taking the Titanic movie and putting the robots from Transformers into it, just because whatever. This is how the genre mix felt in Radius. This makes me very sad ,because this idea had sooo much potential and it was completely wasted on a movie, where it made zero sense to be in.
Excellent Concept, Strong Execution
Liam (Diego Klattenhoff, star of TV's "The Blacklist") wakes from a car crash with no memory of who he is. As he makes his way into town to look for help, he finds only dead bodies, all with strange pale eyes. Liam's first assessment is that a virus is present in the air, but he soon discovers the horrible truth.

This film was born with Fantasia's Frontières Market serving as midwife way back in 2012. Other great films in recent years that came out of this process are "Turbo Kid", "The Void" and "Raw", so the track record is rather strong. (The late George Romero's "Road of the Dead" most recently went through the market and may arrive in 2018.) A few producers were attached and dropped out along the way (hence the multi-year genesis), but ultimately everything worked out.

At first, I thought that perhaps the creators give too much away in their plot description (which I have shortened) and title, but this turns out not to be the case. While the viewer will be more rewarded the less they know going in, the cause of death is only the first in a series of surprises and twists. A far more interesting one awaits.

It cannot be overstated how absolutely wonderful this original concept is. Allegedly, it was inspired in part by the style and format of "Oldboy" (which is not at all obvious) mixed with the plot of an old Superman comic. There are mild horror elements, mixed in with an overall science fiction or supernatural premise. When we find out about the memory of the Santa beard, a mystery element is added. And still further the constant police chase adds an action element, making this a hard film to categorize (other than it is not much of a western or romance!).

The production value is clearly high, and the cinematography from Simon Villeneuve is rich and gorgeous. Charlotte Sullivan's acting seems a little too rehearsed, a little tense and unrealistic. This is a shame, really, because according to her, she approached the role as though she were Kim Novak in "Vertigo" or some other Hitchcock tale, which seems like a strong mindset to use. Diego Klattenhoff hits it out of the park, however. While his character's history and motives are constantly under question, Klattenhoff plays Liam with such warmth that we cannot help but side with him as he goes through this ordeal.

While it is hard to review this film without giving away too much, it really is a must-see. An official selection of FrightFest, Fantastic Fest, and Fantasia Film Festival, everyone else gets to finally see it available on VOD on November 10, 2017. Courtesy of Epic Pictures, the fine folks who gave us "Turbo Kid" and "Tales of Halloween".
Could have been 10/10,but deserves only 4!
The story and the idea is great and acting is quite nice overall. Very cool concept that just didn't go anywhere. Absolutely horrible ending that made the movie absolutely pointless - to the point it was more of a TV show episode 1 type of a scenario. I am absolutely puzzled by the incompetence of the director and poor script that led to this. I get it, some movies let the viewer to decide, but this went on another level further and just didn't finish it. Again, this is more of Episode 1 of a TV show and I suppose perhaps they wanted to make a TV show out of it,but didn't have the budget so they put 2 45 minute episodes and forgot to add the final... BAD!
Tightly scripted thriller
There are only three characters in this movie, and they are all interesting: a guy with no memory, a shady loner, and a girl on the run. There is no telling who you can trust. We don't know whether these people are who they say they are, or what they are up to. Are they really as clueless as they appear? Are they trying to deceive each other about their identities and their intentions, or is the movie trying to deceive us? You will find yourself on the edge of your seat all the way to the end. It's a twisted mix of thriller and tragedy, with a zest of science fiction thrown in, although even that is open to debate. In any case, this is one lean machine of a movie. The writers give us next to no context and only the vaguest sense of place and time. Everything you see and hear drives the plot. Don't miss it.
I enjoyed this movie !
Yup, I think it's the very first time I saw that kind of plot. And yes, I was wondering what's happening to this guy until it was revealed : damn, I though it's good !

The acting is pretty good, the story goes farther and farther, you keep asking "what the hell is wrong here ?". Then goes the climax, one of those which you never can see them coming, awesome ! And unexpected !

For reviewers telling about the radius is nothing, well if they watched closely, they could have seen that the "death radius" is the same seen between the two main characters when they got hit by lightning.

I give it a 8 on 10, because I was very well surprised, it's a refreshing movie.
Thoroughly enjoyed this!
I have to say reading the synopsis I did not know what to expect. The more I watched the movie, the more intriguing it got. There were so many twists and turns in the plot that very effectively did not manage to give away anything right down to the last ten minutes. Excellent and solid performances by Sullivan and Klattenhoff both of whom I'd seen in the Colony and Lavender respectively! Another two excellent movies! I gave it a very well deserved 10, and to be honest I cannot understand the critiques of some of the contributors here! Big thumbs up!
turns took be by surprise
I am not the great review writing guy, but i feel i want to key out a few lines about this movie and maybe get a few undecided folks to actually see it. First of all, forget the classification stuff, it is somewhere between thriller, horror, sci-fi and mystery, so its not clear. The story is well composed and builds up tension and suspense. The two lead characters are well drawn and acted believable. Like another reviewer said, when i got the plot figured out, i did not want the film to end, while before it was like: come on and get to the point, i really need to know what is behind all this. Well invested movie time, quite cool overall. Thank you for the entertainment
Idea stolen from a classic anime
This is a very obvious, yet thoroughly flat remake of the "Stink Bomb" Episode in the omnibus anime "Memories" (1995, https://myanimelist.net/anime/1462/Memories?q=memories). So much for "original concept". It's also a picture-perfect example for how adapting an anime in film doesn't work - what is zany, humorous and non-stop action in the original becomes dull and bleak at a comatose pace.
